With the snow nipping at our heels we left our cozy cottage life November 1st to tackle the first part of our adventure south but first a quick stop in Ottawa for Ivans birthday party.

Our first boarder crossing was in Cornwall Ontario crossing into New York state. The crossing went great and the boarder official could not have been any more easy going although a bit confused when John told him we were going to Florida for only two months and questioned how we would return back to Canada mid winter on a bike. After he understood that this was not going to happen and we were heading out of America via Mexico he wished us well on our travels.

Our stop for the night was in the small quiet town of Hancock Pennsylvania after a long 7hr 500km day we were ready to crash.

We finished the day off being treated to dinner by the Maino family at Billy Joe’s BBQ Pit, quite possibly the tastiest rib joint in America. Thanks guys!!

The weather man called for rain this morning and boy was this the case! We decided to push through anyways and rode a 400km six hour day in the pouring rain. When we rolled into Dover Delaware we looked like drowned cats but nothing a good meal and a few beers couldn’t fix, then off to bed.

Leaving Dover this morning  we hit some serious wind and John was hanging onto the bike like he was a child gripping at his last toy. We found ourselves on Hwy 13 South a super cool road that led us to the Chesapeake Bay bridge. The 32 kilometre long bridge connects Delaware and Maryland to Virginia across the Atlantic ocean.

The 32 kilometer long Chesapeake bay bridge included two underwater tunnels both over one and a half kilometres long.

We make it to our destination for the night in Elizabeth City, North Carolina find a reasonable hotel, grab some dinner and call it a day.

The suns getting warmer and we’re finally beginning to strip off layers of clothing.

The next 2 days are great as we bounce from Elizabeth city (NC) to Wilmington (SC) to Savannah (GA).

And today November 11^th we rolled into Lakeland Florida.

.

After a fun six days on the road we are happy to spend a couple days with our feet up in the land of white heads and alligators. We are greeted by Ivan as the bike rolls up onto the driveway.
